Community Unit School District 200 is Hiring a Behavior Specialist Near Wheaton, IL
Reports to: CUSD 200 Special Education Administrator
Position/Role Summary
The Behavior Intervention Specialist provides a full range of behavioral and social emotional services benefiting D200 students and their families. The Behavior Intervention Specialist supports school-based teams by facilitating the problem solving process, conducting assessments, communicating clearly with all stakeholders, offering professional development on evidence-based practices, providing team consultation, and directly implementing effective behavioral and social-emotional interventions.
Qualifications:
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License with the following endorsements: -LBSI required
- Extensive experience or formal education in the area of behavior and/or autism.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), preferred
1. Implement and coordinate positive behavior support plans and intervention techniques for individual students within CUSD 200.
- Prioritize and respond effectively to behavioral referrals received after initial interventions and data collection have occurred.
- Collaborate with the building’s problem solving team including parents and outside specialists when a student exhibits severe behavior problems in the school environment.
- Demonstrate expertise in the area of data collection and behavior analysis
- Write comprehensive functional assessments, behavior intervention plans, or programmatic recommendations for individual students.
- Travel to school sites as required for observations, interviews, intervention implementation, integrity checks, staff training, and follow-up procedures.
- Provide training in the use of data collection, positive behavior supports, intervention techniques, and instructional methodologies to educational staff.
- Demonstrate/model behavior management ideas and/or techniques.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of federal, state, and district guidelines and regulations regarding emotional disability eligibility, FBA/BIPs, and use of restrictive interventions.
- Monitor student progress and make recommendations for ongoing service
- Consult with parents concerning the status of behavior in the home and recommendations that can be carried out in the home.
- Consult with team members to share information, skills, and attitudes.
- Support buildings in their work towards Behavioral MTSS systems
- Prepare and present workshops or in-service training programs to small and large groups
- Assist in the development of training materials, guidance documents, and manuals.
- Maintain Crisis Prevention Institute trainer certification and organize and deliver CPI training to appropriately identified staff
- Actively participate in district committees pertinent to behavior management
- Maintain all required documentation for student files.
- Maintain a variety of service related records and protocols.
- Maintain and manage records for CPI certification
- Demonstrate the ability to utilize the necessary technology tools available including web-based data systems and electronic IEP platforms.
- Attend IEP, eligibility, or other meetings as necessary and provide related behavioral information.
- Attend weekly Supportive & Directive Instructional classroom team meetings.
- Attend conferences for professional development related to positive behavioral supports.
- Attend related meetings or conferences as assigned.
- Works collaboratively and builds ongoing, effective relationships with staff and administration.
- Displays professional work attire and grooming.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
- Exhibits positive attitude toward job responsibilities.
Terms of Employment:
- School year calendar with option to work Extended School Year.
- Participate in meetings and events outside of the regularly scheduled work day such as home visits, team meetings, or conferences.
